General Hospital star Cameron Mathison (Drew) opened up about the current state of his romantic life three years after he announced his divorce from wife Vanessa after 22 years of marriage.
A Whole New World
Speaking exclusively to Us Weekly, the actor shared he has been dating since the divorce but admitted that navigating modern romance β particularly dating apps β has taken some adjustment.
βThe whole app world is new to me,β he said. βItβs a new world.β
Mathison explained that re-entering the dating scene after decades of marriage came with a learning curve, especially when it came to using technology to meet people. Initially, he said, he became βa little ππππ°ππ upβ in dating apps as he adjusted to single life, and attributed that to the lingering emotions around his breakup. βI was also trying to distract [myself] from a broken heart,β he acknowledged.
During that time, Mathison shared that he met βa lot of amazing people,β including one connection that became more serious. However, he ultimately realized he was not ready to pursue another long-term relationship.

Mathison eventually stepped back from dating apps altogether. βIt was a bit much for me,β he said. βI need time to heal and do my thing.β
The actor and his former wife, who guest-starred on GH in 2022 as career coach Mia, share two children, a son, Lucas, 23, and a daughter, Leila, 19. They first shared the news of their split in July 2024. In a joint Instagram post, they pledged that their children would be their βhighest priority,β and also added, βWe remain friends, and both wish the best for one another.β
Mathison told Us that βit wasnβt my choice that our marriage ended,β but that he remains on good terms with his ex-wife. βI love her. I care about her. I want her to be happy in this chapter,β he emphasized, noting that he remains focused on co-parenting and moving forward in a healthy way for the sake of their family.
